About

Well hello! I'm Roselle, and I'm a Japanese fashion enthusiast. I started my obsession interest just about two years ago with lolita fashion. I ended up falling in love with the classic substyle, only be drawn to sweet as soon as I started purchasing pieces from Japanese brands. As time has gone on, I realized that my dream of wearing lolita fashion everyday was a bit unrealistic - knocking over store displays, squeezing between tables at restaurants or bars, and being approached constantly by random strangers in the grocery store were not part of the grace I had envisioned. It was time to allow something a smidgen more practical into my wardrobe.

I fell down the internet rabbit hole again, revisiting the pages of Japanese fashion I had whizzed through on my first explorations that led me to lolita. Hime fashion, both himekaji and himegyaru, caught my attention because I have always been such a girly-girl. I love pink, lace, bows, pearls, sparkly things, and all types of princess-inspired anything.

My coordinate for a recent birthday brunch.
Dress: Candy Rain (on TaoBao)
Shoes: DreamV
Hair accessory: Handmade by my friend Antoinette
Purse: Betsey Johnson
Fluffy purse charm: Darling Distraction
Half wig: Priscilla

The main fashions I wear today (when I'm not skulking about in office goth at work) are, of course, still lolita (sweet, gothic, hime and old school), himekaji and himegyaru, and fairy kei.

I started this blog because I noticed there wasn't much conversation surrounding himegyaru that has been kept very recent. Is gyaru fashion declining in popularity? Some speculate about it, and there are some interesting posts to be read. I know out of the himegyaru bloggers I follow, several of them have not posted in quite some time, and I want to make sure the conversation goes on. I hope to inject some new perspective while being able to reach out and stir up the love for gyaru again with my fellow gals.

Please enjoy your time here, and let me know if you have any questions!
